When I first started my business I didn’t really know what I was doing. I’d fallen victim to the build it and they will come mentality.

I didn’t know about half of the things I didn’t know about! I joined a mastermind group and I remember the coach asking me about my email list and I was like "my what?"

Thankfully I’ve learnt a lot in the last 11 months about what it takes to run a business online.

This isn’t the first business I’ve started and I’m always open and honest about that. I’ve failed before but as the saying goes "It's either a lesson or a blessing" and I’ve learnt a few lessons in the 3 years since I decided to start my own business. But I wouldn’t change any of it. I would say the only regret I have about the past is that I didn’t start my business sooner. BUT I loved my job.

If I hadn’t quit when I had my daughter and been terrified at the thought of leaving her every day and having a 9-5, I might never have started any kind of business.

It was an idea I’d had for ages but never found the time. I was studying then I bought a house, then I got married and then I had a baby. There was just no time!

And then suddenly I had nothing but time so I thought why not? I had one idea after the other but could never get anything to feel like it was what I was supposed to be doing.

So when I started my coaching business I knew that I wanted to do it properly, I wanted to get the help I needed. So I joined a mastermind group for 6 months and it was one of the best investments I’ve ever made. I made so many great connections, I learnt an unbelievable amount from the coach but I also learnt a lot from the other people in the group. It’s like it’s great to learn the theory but real world examples from the other mastermind members were so valuable.

And now I know that if I’m stuck, I’ve got a group of ladies I can reach out to for help. No judgement, no BS and no competition. I don’t know where I’d be without them.

So, what’s the best investment you’ve made in your business so far and why?
